Strengthening Research Capacity for Abortion Research in Ethiopia: A Progress Update

The Strengthening Capacity and Catalyzing Change for Research program, financially supported by the Guttmacher Institute, aims to enhance the research skills of mid-career professionals in abortion research. Targeting researchers from diverse higher education institutions across Ethiopia in developing evidence-based insights to inform practice and policy in sexual and reproductive health.

In collaboration with the Guttmacher Institute and the School of Public Health at Addis Ababa University, the program provided participants with comprehensive training in abortion research methodologies. To further support the application of their skills, the program awarded competitive research seed grants, enabling participants to initiate and implement abortion-related research projects. This initiative is building a sustainable network of professionals dedicated to improving reproductive health research and policy in Ethiopia, fostering a culture of evidence-based decision-making and collaboration
