The St. Paul Institute for Reproductive Health and Rights (SPIRHR) has been actively working to enhance male engagement in family planning through a series of training and awareness sessions. Recently, SPIRHR conducted a comprehensive training on the Basics of Vasectomy for midwives and nurses in the family planning units of St. Paul’s Hospital Millennium Medical College (SPHMMC) on September 17/2024. This workshop aimed to increase awareness about the importance of male participation in family planning and to integrate vasectomy into family planning counseling comprehensively.

In alignment with this initiative, SPIRHR also conducted a second round of workshops on September 24/2024 on the Basics of Vasectomy, targeting health professionals from the catchment centers of SPHMMC. These sessions were designed to equip healthcare providers with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively counsel and perform vasectomy procedures.

Additionally, on October 09, 2024, SPIRHR organized a workshop on Counseling for Vasectomy specifically for junior OBGYN residents of SPHMMC. This training focused on addressing gaps in counseling and promoting reproductive health and rights. By providing this targeted training, SPIRHR is ensuring that healthcare providers are well-prepared to support male engagement in family planning, ultimately contributing to improved reproductive health outcomes.
