Tsedey Obstetrics and Gynecology Specialty Clinic, in collaboration with the St. Paul Institute for Reproductive Health and Rights (SPIRHR), St. Paul’s Hospital Millennium Medical College (SPHMMC), and the Ministry of Health, Ethiopia, conducted a breast and cervical cancer screening campaign in honor of October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month from October 28- November 1, 2024. The initiative was inaugurated with the presence of HE Dr. Mekdes Daba, Minister of Health, Ethiopia, along with HE Mrs. Chaltu Sani, Minister of Urban and Infrastructure, and HE Eng. Aisha Mohammed Mussa, Minister of Defense. The event also saw the attendance of state ministers from the Ministry of Health and other high-level officials.
In her opening remarks, Dr. Mekdes Daba emphasized the importance of early detection and prevention of breast cancer and other cancers. She highlighted that women’s health is foundational to community health and called for a holistic approach to addressing breast cancer. The Minister urged all stakeholders to engage at the highest standards to effectively tackle this critical issue.
The campaign also saw collaboration from ONCO Pathology Diagnostic Center and Pioneer Diagnostic Center, further strengthening the initiative’s impact. This comprehensive effort aims to improve early detection and treatment of breast and cervical cancer, ultimately enhancing the health and well-being of women in the community.
